The Haunted Tour and New Album VersusSwedish Thrashers The Haunted Set Release Date for Versus
Swedish metallers The Haunted have announced details of their new album. The follow up to The Dead Eye, Versus will be released through Century Media in September.
The album will, they claim, describing the new material with typical restraint, “Definitely sound like The Haunted. Great songs, catchfire-riffing, hooks catchier than herpes on a biker slut, explosive groovy beats and lyrics as sharp, dark, and dripping sarcastic bile like someone who just got back from Hell with a bone to pick.“ "Somewhere along The Dead Eye tours we started to see a pattern in what songs we kept coming back to, and what we felt really good about in the live setting and started talking about making a record that reflected the live energy of the band. We decided to record the whole album live, and add vocals and solos once we had the songs down with the right energy and groove." At The Gates Reformation and the Gothenburg SoundThe Haunted formed in 1996, rising from the ashes of the now legendary At The Gates. Along with Dark Tranquility and In Flames, At The Gates were pioneers of the brand of melodic death metal that became known as the ‘Gothenburg sound’, spawning hordes of imitators in their own right as well as influencing elements of the subsequent metalcore scene. At The Gates reformed for a series of live dates through 2007 and 2008, although vocalist Tomas Lindberg claimed no new At The Gates album would be recorded. Track Details from The Haunted's New Album, VersusGiving a little more detail on tracks from Versus, The Haunted stated that ‘Pieces’ was reminiscent of At The Gates material while the Trouble-inspired ‘Ceremony’ would ‘have your head bobbing’. “‘Moronic Colossus’ and ’Trenches’ are songs we've already picked up and added to the live set with fan approval. Hardcore sniffer ‚Crusher’, a straight up ode to heavy music and metal in particular and the inimitable fury of ‚Little Cage’ will have you smashing furniture and breaking speed limits,“ they continue. „Ladies and gents, It's safe to say we're really looking forward to letting this bastard sink its fangs into your minds. It’s clobbering time!“ The Haunted will also be appearing at a number of festivals and headlining a short Scandinavian tour, with dates as follows… The Haunted Festival Appearances 2008: Festival, Tel Aviv, Israel September 13, 2008 - Youropot Festival @ Rolling Stone, Milan, Italy November 1, 2008 - Nordic Rage Metal Festival @ Westerfarmen, Boden, Swede August 01, 2008 - Wacken Open Air, Wacken, Germany August 08, 2008 - Herning Heavy Holocaust, Herning, Denmark August 14, 2008 – Anthem Festival, Tel Aviv, Israel September 13, 2008 – Youropot Festival @ Rolling Stone, Milan, Italy November 1, 2008 - Nordic Rage Metal Festival @ Westerfarmen, Boden, Sweden The Haunted Scandinavian Tour 2008October 1, 2008 - Malmö / SWEDEN - KB October 2, 2008 - Göteborg / SWEDEN - Brewhouse October 3, 2008 - Oslo / NORWAY- Garage October 4, 2008 - Örebro / SWEDEN - Klubb Aska/Kulturhuset October 6, 2008 - Stockholm / SWEDEN - Nalen
