UK power metal band Dragonforce have announced details of a UK tour in September. The tour will follow the release of their as-yet-untitled new album, which is due to be released on the 25th os August.
Current album Inhuman Rampage is still reportedly selling well, more than two years after its release, due in part to the inclusion of the finger-mangling track 'Through the Fire and Flames' on the best-selling video game Guitar Hero III. Dragonforce guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman also recently unveiled their personalised signature guitars at the NAMM music trade show in Anaheim California. More info can be found at Ibanez.
Main support on the tour will be Finnish viking metal loons Turisas. Named after a Finnish god of war, Turisas are renowned for playing gigs in face-paint and animal skins and for lacing their 'battle metal' with folk music, incorporating violins, accordion and keyboards within their none-more-epic sound.
The band have already performed several successful tours of the UK in support of their 2007 concept album The Varangian Way, with large sections of the audience coming dressed for the part, brandishing toy axes and swords and clad in loincloths and furry boots.
Dragonforce are currently at work completing the new album and will then head to the States in late June for the start of the inaugural Rockstar Mayhem touring festival. The package, which is headlined by labelmates Slipknot and also features the likes of Disturbed, Mastodon, Machine Head and Underoath, kicks off in early July and sees Dragonforce bagging a main stage slot.
The tour will take in around 30 cities in the USA and Canada. As well as the festival appearances, Dragonforce will also be squeezing in a couple of headlining shows at the Roseland Theater, Portland, Oregon on 5th July and the Diamond Ballroom, Oklahoma City on 24th July.
The UK and Irish dates are as follows:
